Polk Central Golfers Beat Christ School The Polk Central High School golf team defeated Christ School Thursday afternoon at Lake Lure Golf Course. Polk Central had 326 strokes to 364 for Christ School. Medalist for Polk Central was Robbie Wilson with a TJ. In an unusual match, Tryon won all but the No. 1 singles and then lost all the doubles by a 9-7 score. The individual matches were as follows: Singles: Dale Owens (PC) d. Wednesday Polk Central at Edneyville Thursday Landrum at Tryon Wrecks Thursday at 8:15 p.m Tryon Police Officer Leon Foy investigated a three car accident on N. Trade Street in front of Cowan's Supermarket. Duncan MacVean of Tryon, driving a '78 Chevrolet, hit the back end of a '75 Chevrolet driven by Linda Schuck of Tryon and knocked Ms. Schuck’s car into the back of a ’75 Ford Station Wagon driven by Cotton Morris. Officer Foy said that Mr. Morris had stopped to let a car out into the street and that Ms. Schuck had stopped, but that Mr. MacVean had turned his head briefly and hadn’t seen everyone stopping and ran into the back of Ms. Schuck’s car. Officer Foy estimated that about $2,000 damage was done to the front of the MacVean car, about $500 damage to the back and front of the Schuck vehicle and that there was no damage to the Morris auto. Thursday afternoon about 2:35, an unusual accident took place in the AiP parking lot Richard Cunningham of Tryon and Molly Millikin of Tryon were backing their cars out of their parking spaces and hit each other. Tryon Police Officer Leon Foy estimated that about $500 damage was done to the Millikin vehicle and no damage was done to the Cunningham car. Golf Thursday Polk Central at Tryon
